Website in another language? How to translate it

Windows or Mac (Chrome or Edge): Open the research website, right-click the page, and choose Translate to English (or Translate). You can also use your browser’s translation icon when it appears.

iPhone (Safari): Tap the Page Menu button, then Translate to English, if available.

Android (Chrome): Open the browser’s three-dot menu (⋮) and select Translate.

Important for genealogy: Browser translation helps with website menus and ordinary webpage text; it generally does not translate handwriting in scanned historical documents. Original records may be in another language even when the website is in English. Check names, dates, and places against the original document.

About named Ancestry and MyHeritage collections: The collection-specific links open the publishers’ personal-account websites; local and annual coverage may be incomplete. The Library Editions are separate services. For Ancestry Library Edition, use the Card Catalog to find a collection. For MyHeritage Library Edition, copy the collection title from its resource card, open the Library Edition through your library, and use its collection-browsing or collection-search tools to find that title. The specific collection may not be included in Library Edition. Follow the instructions in each resource card or Extra Resources below.

Access genealogy resources through your library

Your local public library may provide free access to Ancestry Library Edition or MyHeritage Library Edition. Available collections and remote-access options vary by library. Check your library's online resources or ask a librarian about genealogy database access.

Las Vegas–Clark County Library District (LVCCLD)

LVCCLD library cardholders can access Ancestry Library Edition and MyHeritage Library Edition from home through the library's online resources. Visit the LVCCLD website and select Online Resources → A–Z Resources. Individual collection availability may vary.

From outside Las Vegas? Check whether your local library provides these services; LVCCLD nonresident eCard eligibility does not guarantee access to every database. The links above open the Library District A–Z Resources directory; select the Library Edition by name. The set of collections offered by each Library Edition may differ from the personal website.

These are starting points, not guarantees that a particular record exists. Coverage and fees vary by place, period, and collection. Historical borders may differ from today's countries.
